NHS Sustainability Day of Action!! 28th March

Hi Everyone!

I've recently (very excitedly!) taken on the role of co-director of Training & Education for the Healthy Planet UK national committee--- part of Medsin! And it's NHS Sustainability Day of Action on the 28th March (for fifth years- also known as Common Management Paper Day! Eek!). As medical students, there are lots of things we can do, but Healthy Planet is focusing on these two!

Photo Competition!
Healthy Planet are doing a photo competition, and want to get as many Healthy Planet/ Medsin branches involved as possible! The idea is simple- get as many people as possible- doctors/nurses/patients/lecturers/students etc. to hold a placard saying they want their NHS to be more sustainable (placard design is included below). The branch which sends us the most photos will get a mystery prize which should help them out over the next year!

NHS Fones 4 Forests
As part of Climate week (12th-18th March) and NHS sustainability day on 28th March Healthy Planet has teamed up with the NHS forests campaign in a bid to increase awareness about NHS sustainability among students. The NHS Forest is a pioneering program to engage people with a common ground between their personal wellbeing and wider environmental concerns. In order to improve the NHS sustainability and increase access to green land we are promoting the Fones 4 NHS forests campaign. One phone = One tree planted in your NHS trust!

All we’re asking you to do is bring in your old phones (or Sat navs) place them in the boxes provided before the 28th of March and you’ll be planting a tree for your local NHS trust promoting NHS sustainability and a greener environment. If you have any questions about Fones 4 NHS Forests please don’t hesitate to get in touch with healthyplanet@medsin.org

PS- Don't forget to check out the Facebook page and blog and please follow us on Twitter!
